With different legislations and trade barriers it can be very difficult for businesses to expand into new markets within and beyond the EU. Differences in national rules governing businesses and other forms of compliance pose a severe barrier to them entering the European market.

While we agree that EU compliance requires a commitment of time and money, the potential pay-offs in terms of increased revenues, improved economies of scale and access to new ideas etc are well worth the efforts. Furthermore, EU compliance standards protect legitimate market players facing competition from unscrupulous companies.
