Atlantric to Lead new Peer-to-Peer Export Mentoring Program
By: Derrick Olsen ~ Vice President of Regional Strategy & Coordination Greater Portland Inc
Date: February 8th, 2014 Location: Portland, Oregon, USA
Now in year two of the Greater Portland Export Initiative, Atlantric will lead the peer to peer company mentoring effort as part of a strategic action called Catalyze Under-Exporters. This effort will match experienced export companies with companies seeking to export their products or services abroad, or
new-to-market companies seeking to expand their existing export efforts into new markets.
Using their strong ties with private sector companies, public sector economic development officials and export service providers, Atlantric will lead a work group that will identify successful export companies who are interested in mentoring, develop a business plan for a mentor network program, and match mentor and mentee company executives to share sales and distribution resources (where not in competition).
Participant companies will need to define what they want to get out of the mentor/mentee relationship
such as access to experienced executives, participation on a joint trade mission, connection to foreign resources, introduction to foreign buyers, or other export assistance.
“We are delighted to be helping some very exciting regional companies expand through export growth. The idea of amassing a team of specialists from the City, Regional & Federal Government, Development agencies plus Trade Associations and Corporate experts, is absolutely the right thing to do. There is a wealth of experience and expertise available to help potential exporters or current exporters build on their exporting success. Bringing it all together and getting these parties to share their knowledge is going to be tremendously helpful and exciting – a great new strategy!”
